Union Bank of India, one of the largest government-owned banks in the country, has issued a recent update regarding its banking hours and services. It is essential for customers and prospective clients to be aware of these changes.
Banking Hours and Days
Union Bank of India will be open for business from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekdays (Monday to Friday). However, it is important to note that the bank will be closed on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. Please keep in mind that these timings may vary across branches.
NEFT and RTGS Services
Under the recent guidelines provided by the RBI (Reserve Bank of India), Union Bank of India will be offering round-the-clock NEFT and RTGS services for fund transfer, ensuring convenience for customers on a 24x7x365 basis.
Previously, NEFT transactions were processed between 8:00 AM and 6:30 PM on weekdays, with bulk NEFT files required to be uploaded before 6:00 PM for same-day processing. RTGS transfers, on the other hand, were conducted between 8:00 AM and 4:20 PM, with bulk RTGS files needing to be uploaded before 3:30 PM for same-day processing.
Restoration of Services Post COVID-19 Lockdown
Following the end of the COVID-19 lockdown, Union Bank of India has resumed its regular operating hours and restored all banking services. During the lockdown, the bank had taken necessary measures to protect its customers and staff, including adjustments in staff count and providing a 'COVID-19 Regulatory Package'.
Previously closed services such as account opening, passbook printing, cash deposit and withdrawal, cheque clearing, remittances and government transactions, and note exchange services have now been reinstated.
However, it is advisable for customers to utilize Union Bank of India's Net-banking and Mobile Banking services for all financial and non-financial transactions, unless a visit to the branch is absolutely necessary. Customers visiting the bank must adhere to the guidelines regarding social distancing and sanitization, issued by the bank in line with the ongoing pandemic.
Locker Services and Lunch Break Policy
Union Bank of India's locker services are available during the bank's normal working hours. Customers interested in operating existing lockers or applying for new ones can visit their nearest branch during these hours. The bank does not have a formal lunch break for its employees, ensuring the smooth operation of services throughout the day.
